The City of Jesus,
A Light on a hill;
Forever now shining,
Impeccable zeal.
A Light I once shadowed
The world all around
A Light brightly shining
Now beckoning found.
I saw a slight glimmer,
But soon turned away.
“I see in the darkness”
My pride then would say.
But then the day soon came
When I could not see,
This Light on a hilltop,
This Savior for me.
So scared and so frightened,
And begging to see;
The Light on the hilltop
Was sent just for me.
The more that I cried out,
The brighter it grew;
It called me by my name
‘Twas then that I knew.
The City of Jesus
The plan was for me
The Savior was born there
And He set me free.

Denise Matthews
Riverside, CA
I'm happily married, and a full time mother of five. God has blessed me with the position of Kinder coordinator/developer for our church in Riverside, as well as a preschool teacher during the week. I am the director for Heart of God in Uganda an outreach of Heart of God International, an ebay trading assistant, and cub scout den leader. In my spare time I love to do scrapbooking, crafts, read, and hang out with my family and friends. I'm getting ready for my first mission trip to Uganda and can hardly wait to see the children and share with them how much Jesus loves them.

I'm confused. It says, "written by Jan Ross." Did you write it? Fill me in. I'm lost. It's beautiful whoever wrote it. ;-)

Jan (me) uploaded them on the blog, so that may be a bit deceiving -- the Title indicates who actually wrote the piece.
Sorry for the confusion!
God bless, Jan

Hey, Congratulations. How exciting. I was thinking last Sunday as we were talking about how much God has done in you and through you. When we were at the MOPS convention and talking you had so many things on your mind. Thoughts of the darker past you knew and are you "good enough" for God. You were hesitant to follow God's leading into hospitality at MOPS. Look at you now! Leading in preschool ministries with faith and poise and cheer. You are presenting for the Heart of Uganda and the dear kids before groups at schools. You are writing even more of God's love and grace for us in a way that shows the reality and truth with such a genuine feel. You have, through many things, learned how personal and true and loving our God is. I am delighted and privileged to call you friend. I am honored to call you my sister in Christ.
Love you. Sabina
